Who’s Who in Seattle Real Estate?

 

Real estate influencers and the best in Seattle real estate joined us at The Emerald on October 19th from 5pm – 7pm for libations, hors d’oeuvres and mingling with the best in the business as we celebrated the launch of Seattle Agent Magazine’s inaugural Who’s Who in Seattle Real Estate issue!

 

 

Seattle Agent Magazine covers residential real estate news, providing information to real estate professionals across the city and suburbs. Top industry leaders are selected through a nomination process to highlight in the popular annual issue: Who’s Who in Seattle Residential Real Estate. The Emerald was chosen, not only to play host to the issue release, but as the photo shoot site weeks in advance, where agents posed in the Olympic Room to a backdrop of incredible water views and various model residences framing Seattle’s epic scenery. In the Who’s Who issue, we celebrate local professionals and learn more about how they got to where they are today, what keeps them going and, most importantly, why they do what they do. Making the cover issue of 2022 are Christine Madrid, Max Rombakh and Ming Fung.

 

 

 

To celebrate the issue release, agents arrived to a step and repeat located right off the elevator and were led into The Emerald’s 39th Floor Olympic Room, a striking architectural statement designed by the Seattle-based, female led duo Julia Nagele, Principal, Director of Design – Architecture at Hewitt Architects, and interiors by local interior designer Susan Marinello of Susan Marinello Interiors. This amenity space showcases stunning views of Elliott Bay offering residents plenty of seating, high-speed internet, and accordion doors which open onto the Emerald Veranda to the north and Rainier Terrace to the south, making it the ideal place to kick back and enjoy views of Mt. Rainier, the Space Needle and the Olympic Mountains.

 

 

 

“We were honored that Seattle Agent Magazine asked us to host and gave us the opportunity to network within the real estate community while showing off our beautiful space at The Emerald. It was so nice to see a lot of new faces in the building, as well as some familiar favorites. The Olympic Room on the top floor of the building truly is a captivating space. There’s nothing quite like looking out across Elliott Bay to the Olympic Mountains, especially as the sun is setting. 105 industry leaders attended the signature event which included speakers of the night: Anne Hartnett, Managing Partner of Seattle Agent Magazine, Bing Feng, CEO of Create World Real Estate Inc., and Brooke Kavieff, Polaris Pacific Sales Manager at The Emerald. Guests mingled among the Terra Bella Flowers floral arrangements, created in black and red to align with Seattle Agent Magazine’s palette while enjoying incredible hors d’oeuvres and libations from The Catering Company. Everything from the full-service bar to the Canape, Silver Dollar Crab Cakes and Chimichurri Beef Crostini were a hit with guests.

The first stop is Pike & Western Wine Shop, where owner, Michael Teer takes us on a short tour. Arranged by regions, the popular retailer offers American wines, showcasing local Washington and Oregon wines as well as a few California offerings. Brooke really loves the wonderful descriptions of each wine as she finds these helpful in making her selections. NV Andreola Bollé Vino Spumante Rosato Extra Dry – Veneto, Italy

Soft and delicate with aromatics reminiscent of red wild berries, followed by a slight hint of floral notes, and a pleasant dry finish.  Seriously, there is no better wine to serve over Thanksgiving dinner than a dry or semi-dry vino spumante (aka sparkling wine) that is low in alcohol and packed with fruit aromatics! For starters, nothing says “special occasion” quite like bubbles do – especially if they come in a pink hue. Secondly, its bright and refreshing acidity along with a slight touch of effervescence makes it the perfect match for a multitude of flavors and textures since they offset the meal’s rich and heavy flavors. It’s also generally less expensive and more accessible than its French counterpart Champagne without sacrificing quality

 

2018 The Eyrie Vineyard Roland Green Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley, OR

The key here is to find a wine that compliments your meal as a whole without overshadowing the different range of dishes and flavors, and what better than Pacific Northwest Pinot Noir to get the job done? 2020 Ver Sacrum Monastrell-Valle de Uco, Argentina

Ver Sacrum is an all-organic winery with very low intervention produced in Argentina. This is a bright and juicy red, on the lighter side but brims with ripe fruit that pairs well with just about any of your holiday fare. Reminiscent of a Beaujolais, it has a little more blue fruit and is really versatile.

 

2019 Dirler-Cade Muscat, Alsace, France

Muscat is a perennial holiday favorite, its bright peach and pear aromas make this wine a pleasure to smell, it becomes almost sweet but never quite gets there, with wildflower and Acacia, bone dry with great acidity helps it play well with just about everything on your table. Muscat’s bright fruit and great acidity makes this perfect for Turkey, Ham, roasted vegetables or the old-fashioned Jello mold.

 

Wine in hand, the team is off to Pike Place Public Market to grab some fresh produce for their bruschetta, as well as some shrimp for their pasta. Tour the Evolving Seattle Waterfront from Above

Join Brooke, Sales Manager at The Emerald, as she explains the latest amenity milestones and what’s to come along the ever-evolving Seattle waterfront. A natural in front of the camera, Brooke begins this video tour high above it all filming from one of our beautiful one-bedroom condominiums on the 33rd floor. This “05” stack home offers an amazing vantage point to watch the progress along the waterfront unfold.

 

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Brooke’s entire video, enjoy the tour. We’ve summarized some key points below for your convenience!

 

The Waterfront Project is creating a more accessible and livable waterfront in an effort to offer more pedestrian spaces connecting the city core down to the water. Once at the waterfront, the emphasis is to create a more livable and enjoyable space for all.

 

The first portion, the new seawall, was completed in 2017.  This new seawall serves as the foundation for the new waterfront, and it has some really nice features for the ecosystem. Salmon migrate through that area, so they have used materials and have designed it in a way that creates a healthier habitat for the sea. A sidewalk has also been incorporated to facilitate and encourage waterfront pedestrian activity.

 

In 2018 we saw the addition of the Washington Street Habitat Beach, a beach that anyone can enjoy for fun, great for picnics or to get your feet wet. If you are familiar with the waterfront, you know that before this beach was added, there really wasn’t anything on the water until you get to the Olympic Sculpture Park, which is on the north side of the city. This addition is almost complete and many are excited about this new venue.

 

In 2019, an above ground two-story highway was rerouted underground into a tunnel that now runs underneath the waterfront – hugely beautifying the waterfront and definitely making it much, much more enjoyable and accessible.

 

The next portion of the project that was completed was Pier 62.  You can tell which one it is because it has a soccer field on top. This pier was designed to be a flexible park space, with numerous events daily. The Waterfront Park website highlight activities offered such as free yoga, free dance classes, food truck round-ups, live music and even the regional Salish Tribe sharing traditional songs and stories with visitors.

 

Future plans call for a sidewalk that runs along the waterfront, expanding it and making it more like a promenade. They’re also adding a bike lane, more greenery and park spaces for kids to play, in an effort to create a pedestrian-friendly setting for all. These present and future improvements will make connecting by foot to your favorite sporting events extremely convenient. It’s very Seattle.

 

The Overlook Walk portion of the waterfront is another project that is currently under construction which will connect Pike Place Market to the Seattle Aquarium. There’s going to be some fun spaces for kids, various slides that can take them from the top of the walk, down to the bottom where the aquarium is located. Food and beverage vendors will also be incorporated. Overlook Walk boasts a modern design and will have some great views.

 

Other additions will include a new pedestrian bridge from the common ferry terminal that will take people over to Western Avenue. There will also be one more new pier, Pier 58 – located between the aquarium and The Great Wheel. This new pier will be in the shape of a triangle and will have a grove of trees, nice seating, and kids play area.

Overlook Walk is in the Works

Seattle’s new waterfront is taking shape and dramatically changing the city’s landscape. Work has already started on a new pedestrian bridge which can be seen from The Emerald’s rooftop which will connect Pike Place Market to the revitalized downtown waterfront, mere minutes from The Emerald’s front door in the center of downtown Seattle.

 

 

 

Dubbed “Overlook Walk,” the bridge will create an elevated public park and connection between the waterfront to Seattle’s urban core. People can walk on the elevated pathway from Pike Place Market to the waterfront without ever crossing the new Alaskan Way. Overlook Walk will have expansive views of Elliott Bay, informal play areas, new public plazas and a fresh landscape.

 

The bridge will include slopes and a new elevator in addition to stairs, according to the Office of the Waterfront, which says the space will serve as a sort of an elevated park with terraced landscaping, native plants, expansive Elliott Bay views, amphitheater-style seats for concerts and a new cafe, plus slides and other play elements for children. Overlook Walk will also be integrated with Seattle Aquarium’s proposed Ocean Pavilion expansion.

 

Overlook Walk is at the center of improvements from Pier 62 up to Pike Place Market and east along to Seattle’s urban core, including Pike and Pine streets. The MarketFront addition to Pike Place Market will link directly to the new Overlook Walk and the Aquarium’s Ocean Pavilion to provide a critical new public connection to and from the waterfront, overcoming the city’s steep topography and avoiding street crossings. There will be two permanent art installations on the bridge: Undulating, puppet-like cloth figures by Ann Hamilton and a Coast Salish basket-inspired sculpture by the MTK Matriarchs, a three-person team, reports the Seattle Times.

 

Seattle Aquarium envisions that Seattle will be reconnected to the ecosystem of the Pacific Ocean through its new Ocean Pavilion – an investment that will help connect downtown, Pike Place Market and the waterfront as a gathering place for all. This major new exhibit will be an extension of the existing Seattle Aquarium on Piers 59 and 60 providing several critical public features such as a new public elevator and a publicly-accessible rooftop park that will connect to Overlook Walk.
